Job Description:
As a Survey Project Manager at SGC, you will play a crucial role in overseeing multiple teams of technical staff, ensuring the highest quality of work, and maintaining project schedules and budgets. You'll have the opportunity to utilize your expertise in survey research, computations, and drafting to produce topographic maps, plats, and legal documents. Additionally, you will collaborate with clients, field crews, and office staff to achieve company objectives and cultivate strong client relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise technical teams, providing professional guidance and reviewing work products to ensure exceptional quality.
- Collaborate with the Director of Survey Operations to manage office and field workload effectively.
- Conduct various survey research activities, including computations, computer-aided drafting, and preparation of legal descriptions.
- Review project progress, perform quality assurance, and report updates to the Director of Survey.
- Schedule field crews, oversee field procedures, and ensure optimal utilization of survey vehicles and equipment.
- Take an active role in business development by preparing proposals and delivering client presentations.
- Maintain and establish procedures and quality standards, providing technical expertise and support to survey staff.
- Manage multiple survey projects for public and private clients, ensuring adherence to schedules, performance standards, and budget constraints.
- Cultivate client relationships, apply effective marketing strategies, and contribute to the growth and development of the business.
- Monitor survey workload, staffing needs, and budgetary requirements to ensure efficient project management.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Operate in a fast-paced environment, readily taking on additional responsibilities and challenges.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Geomatics, Land Surveying, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Preferred licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or actively working towards obtaining it highly preferred.
- Proven experience in project management, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
- Strong coordination skills, adept at working with clients, office staff, and field crews to achieve company objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Advanced knowledge of local survey laws, principles, techniques, and safety precautions.
- Proficiency in survey processing software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center.
- In-depth understanding of field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to take on new challenges.
