This course is meant to fulfill the mandatory 4 hours in Standards of Practice / Ethics / Code of Conduct required within 201 KAR 18:192 Section 3(2) every four years for Professional Land Surveyors in Kentucky. It has been developed to consist of 4 hours of Continuing Professional Development time presented online. This course will begin with the presenter’s view on the meaning of ethics and how the code of professional practice and conduct relate to professional ethics. Portions of Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS) 322 which provide guidance on professional ethics will also be discussed. In addition, the standards of practice for both boundary surveys and mortgage inspections will be presented with emphasis placed on portions of the Kentucky Administrative Regulations which have generated discussion during in-person presentations of this material. Specific areas of common violations of the standards will be presented. Two brief activities will require the attendee to put into practice their knowledge of ethics and the standards of practice.
